Finally a decent topic where I can brush up my English skills. I think I'll be a frequent guest in this thread I just luuuuuuuuuuv English and everything that comes with it. Only in the American variety though.
So, anyone caring enough to brief me on what's going on in this thread?

Everything and nothing. Just take a look at a few newest pages. Spam, spam, spam ;p but in English, so legal one ;p

Even though more people actually speak American than British? Blah, never mind. We don't want a racist/nationalist fight here, do we?
Well, myself being a student of English, I am in deep sorrow over not having anyone on a really good level to talk live with. Native level would be perfect, but I'd take anyone, who understands e.g. Pratchett's books in English (I've had a few hard times, but my trusted Oxford Advanced helped, along with the internet)
Oh, I'm too lazy to look through the last few pages. How long were you learning English until now? What plans do you have, that include English as one of their bases? How would you subjectively qualify your language level? And how high is that objectively (certificates, Matura, other sh.t like that?).
One more thing - although I try my best as to correctness of my posts, when I write in English, i seem to make and miss much more typos and other errors than in Polish. So please, all you language purists, go to Africa and kick a lion in the nose.

I could quote something in here but as you wrote:

Medium. I understand more than I can express by myself but I consider it as a quite normal situation. But usually, when I'd like to say something, people don't have any problems with unerstanding me

There was no use for me to pass any certificates but on mock exams I passed FCE with A grade. That was like two yeras ago; now I'm on the first year of English philology, so I guess my language skills improved a bit ^^

I'll probably become an interpreter, so English will be my basic tool ;p
My longest post in this thread ;p

Myself, I want to become a teacher of English (yeah, in the chaos that is in Polish education, I realise that it's a bit suicidal). But I'm in an English Teacher Training College, and I really like the additional subjects like Psychology or Theory of Teaching and Learning. And I'm also in the first year
My language skills could be defined as medium, with a hint of good. Though I didn't pass any certificate exams, my Matura was, like, 100% oral (higher level), 100/96% written (standard/higher respectively). And in College, we're doing CAE-level tasks, and the only subject I may have problems with is (as usual) listening - but that's because the recordings are of lousy quality. Every single time.
Coming back to my earlier post, when did you start learning English and how? My "adventure" began about...15 years ago. And it was because of untranslated Cartoon Network. I tried to understand things from context. Then my beloved Mother started buying some magazine called "Z angielskim od dziecka". Then I started having classes in english in primary school (4th grade). My teacher back then told my mum, that I was some kind of "prodigy" And so it continued, A-grading through all classes. At some time in high school, I was considering Math or IT oriented studies, but my English teacher brainwashed me into English (praise the Lord for so vigilant teachers!). SO I ended up in the Silesian University, on Teachers English. But, due to unfortunate events (health) I was forced to quit. Yeah, I could try a Dean's Vacation, but Nnow I see that changing schools was a good thing.
Now, thats a long post Gotta bail, exam in Psychology in 10 hours, gotta catch some snooze
